New Leipzig - The Immanuel Lutheran Church Women will hold their annual bake and card sale, silent auction and soup, salad and sandwich luncheon from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the New Leipzig Community Center. Proceeds will go toward the church service team. Also, the Carson Women's Club will hold its 21st annual bazaar Nov. 12 at the Grant County Fair Building in Carson, and anyone interested in setting up should call 622-3319 after 4 p.m. The Grant County Commission will hold a public hearing at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the courthouse in Carson to get comment on a proposal to appoint, rather than elect, the county state's attorney. The sole legal practitioner in the county does not want the position.

Garrison - The public can hear the North Dakota Supreme Court hear an actual court case at 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Garrison City Auditorium. Also, the Friends of Lake Sakakawea will hold their annual meeting at 3 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Garrison City Auditorium. A number of state and national political, tourism and outdoors leaders will talk about present and future plans.

Golden Valley - The 78th annual Mercer County Farmers Union Convention will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Golden Valley Community Center. Supper and entertainment will be followed by the business meeting. Also, the Hazen Winter Sports Association will hold a fall face-off social starting at 8 p.m. Saturday at the All-Season's Arena in Hazen. The event will include appetizers and a silent auction.
