Burleigh and Morton counties are slated to receive federal Homeland Security grants to enhance emergency radio communication.
Morton County will receive $478,873, while Burleigh County will get $151,690.
This money is supposed to increase recipient counties' capabilities to communicate reciprocally with other emergency management locations across the country.
In North Dakota, more than $5 million was awarded to 45 counties and two tribal jurisdictions. The grants account for 80 percent of the total costs of the program, while local jurisdictions are responsible for a 20 percent match.
