Materials and chemicals used to make methamphetamine were found in a Bismarck mobile home that was destroyed by a Friday night fire.
Authorities are searching for the owners of the 2500 Centennial Road mobile home number 208, Bismarck Police Lt. Dan Donlin said. Nobody was inside the Mr. B's Estates mobile home at about 11 p.m. when the Bismarck Fire Department arrived to find the back of the single-wide "heavily involved with fire," Bismarck Fire Department Capt. Jesse Smith said.
Bismarck police were called to the blaze after pans, filters and chemicals - commonly used to make meth - were discovered inside the mobile home, Donlin said. Officers trained to tear down meth labs collected the evidence.
Authorities are trying to determine if the apparent meth lab was operational, and whether or not the materials caused the fire, Donlin said. No criminal charges have been filed, and the names of the mobile home residents weren't released because of the active investigation.
A neighbor reported the fire, and firefighters immediately went inside. A pickup parked in front of the mobile home gave them reason to believe the mobile home was occupied.
A firefighter suffered minor burns when he was met by intense heat and flames. The name of the injured firefighter wasn't released. He was treated at a Bismarck hospital and sent home.
The cause and the origin of the fire are under investigation. The mobile home was a total loss.
