Medora - Medora Beef Day will be held starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Medora Community Center. Discussion will help ranchers get ready for mandatory cattle identification and learn more about antibiotics and anthrax. A free beef stew lunch will be served.

BOWMAN

Bowman - The annual Beef Day, normally held in Rhame, will be held in Bowman Tuesday. The event will start at noon at the 4 Seasons Pavilion and provide a forum to discuss local and national beef issues, including getting ready for animal and source identification, with a 3 p.m. presentation on the topic by Andy Kellom of the Montana Beef Network. Free chili will be served at noon. Also, patrons from the Bowman and Rhame school districts will vote from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday on the members of a new combined school board for their reorganized district. Bowman will vote at the Solberg gym, and Rhame will vote at the American Legion Hall.

Killdeer - Bidding for haying, farming and grazing on the Killdeer Mountains Wildlife Management Area will change, and any interested parties are invited to an information meeting at 10 a.m. Jan. 26 at the Killdeer Legion Hall. A packet of information will be available to potential bidders, who have until February and March to make their bids.

Elgin - Grant County Ag Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Elgin Community Center. The day will feature talks on various topics, including an 11 a.m. presentation on cattle feeding from ethanol products. A free noon lunch will be served, and the day will end with a 3 p.m. discussion on the impact of costs on 2006 crop planting.

STANDING ROCK

Fort Yates - The Standing Rock Sioux tribal council will discuss next month whether to bring the matter of the University of North Dakota's use of the Fighting Sioux mascot to a reservation-wide referendum vote. A motion to hold the vote was withdrawn last week, in favor of more discussion across the reservation.

McLaughlin, S.D. - The McLaughlin Lions will sponsor an ice golf tournament at noon Sunday at the Keith Olson dam eight miles west of McLaughlin.
