LANGDON (AP) - Researchers hope to develop grapes that will survive cold weather and produce good fruit in a short growing season.
North Dakota State University stations will be involved in research next spring.
Randy Mehlhoff, the station director in Langdon, said the North Dakota Grape Growers Association has been working with NDSU on a research program, starting four years ago in Absaraka and Williston.
"Grapes that might grow well in Williston - we may need different varieties here at Langdon because we are a little bit cooler and a little bit wetter," he said. "So different areas of the state are now involved in this project.
