Man charged in assault of father

A Bismarck man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly breaking his father's collar bone.

Steele Vaulters, 23, was charged Monday with the Class Cfelony.

South Central District Judge Bruce Haskell set bond for Vaulters at $5,000 cash.

Haskell also restricted Vaulters from contacting his father or from possessing or consuming alcohol. Vaulters must have written permission to stay at a local address, if released.

Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Julie Lawyer requested bond be set at $7,500 cash. She said Vaulters has a significant criminal history dating back to 2002.

Bismarck Police Lt. Dan Donlin said police received a report of a man assaulting his father early Saturday. He said Vaulters' father reported that his son had kicked him and held him down between 1:30 and 2:03 a.m. at his home on the 700 block of South 12th Street.

Donlin said the man reported having a broken collar bone.

Vaulters said Monday at the Burleigh County Courthouse that he turned himself in to police Saturday afternoon.

He was booked into the Burleigh County Detention Center at 2:59 p.m. Saturday.
