Charges are pending in connection with an October accident near New Leipzig that killed two Regent teens.

Louis Jahner, 19, and Kjirsten Carlson, 16, were killed around 12:30 a.m. Oct. 23 when the vehicle they were in rolled one mile west of New Leipzig. Jahner was driving the two home.

Grant County State's Attorney Jim Vukelic said information is being reviewed to file charges against several people for contributing alcohol to minors, minors in consumption and false statements to law enforcement.

Vukelic said alcohol was distributed to many teenagers at a gathering the night Jahner and Carlson were killed. He said the possible false statements to law enforcement charge had to do with a person being questioned during investigation.

No charges related to foul play are pending, but Vukelic said the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation continues to investigate the accident.

"There are lots of rumors floating around," he said. "We have a BCI agent who will investigate anything and everything having to do with them."

Results of a toxicology report on Jahner and Carlson are not complete and Vukelic would not say if the two were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Vukelic said charges should be filed in the contributing to minors, minor in consumption and false information charges sometime next week.
