Feel like you're leaving the country without leaving town at the Third Annual American Heart Association Gala.

"An Evening in Paris" provides dinner, music and silent and live auction at the Ramkota Inn on Saturday.

The event is $75 per person, and proceeds support the American Heart Association in education, research and advocacy.

Guests at the gala will hear from guest speaker Brian Peterson, of Knowles Jewelry, about his experience as a heart survivor.

"Lots of people think it is a medical event," Heather Nelsen, American Heart Association corporate events director, said. "We want people to try to understand it is a social event and fundraiser."

Music that evening is provided by Nightlife.

Live auction items include a trip for two to Las Vegas, a hunting trip, a pendant, LASIKeye surgery and a wine refrigerator. In all, there are 16 items. Silent auction items include Minnesota Vikings paraphernalia and business services.

The event is semi-formal. Tickets can be purchased by calling Nelsen at 663-8295 or at the door.

Another major fundraising event for the American Heart Association is the Heart Walk in September.
