JAMESTOWN (AP) - Jamestown's Julia Schlaht, who was known as a teacher, a master gardener and creator of a Norwegian troll dancers group, has died at age 101.
Friends say Schlaht died Saturday at a Jamestown nursing home.
Lucille Finch was a friend of Schlaht's for about 40 years. She said Schlaht created the Norwegian dance group to preserve her heritage.
Schlaht was born in Cass County and moved to Jamestown in 1938, with her husband, John. He died 20 years later.
An obituary notice says Schlaht was an international president of the Sons of Norway, and enjoyed hearing and telling Norwegian jokes.
Services are scheduled Tuesday morning in Jamestown.
