Police have arrested two Bismarck teenagers for allegedly trying to steal nearly $1,800 worth of pool cues from Scheels.

Bismarck Police Lt. Dan Donlin said security at the sporting goods store in Kirkwood Mall called police at 3:38 p.m. Sunday to report they had two theft suspects in custody.

Donlin said employees believe the two males were coordinating with each other via cell phones and nonverbal signals. They were apprehended outside the store and were in possession of a $79 pool cue case and six pool cues ranging in value from $59.99 to $539.99.

Donlin said the two teenagers were arrested.

A 16-year-old Bismarck boy received a juvenile citation for felony theft and was taken to the Youth Correctional Center. The names of juveniles involved in criminal cases are not released, and the boy's case will be handled in juvenile court where cases are closed.

Clifford John Naylor Jr., 18, was charged with Class C felony theft of property Monday.

South Central District Judge Bruce Haskell set a $3,000 unsecured bond for Naylor. An unsecured bond means money only has to be posted if a defendant violates bond conditions.

Naylor's attorney, Deborah Carpenter, requested Naylor be released on his promise to appear because he has no adult or juvenile criminal history. She said he works, attends high school and is only several days past his 18th birthday.

Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Pam Nesvig said she did not oppose the bond suggested by Carpenter.
