North Dakota was under tornado warnings and flash flood warnings Sunday night and into this morning.

Tornado warnings for Morton and Sioux Counties expired at 7:30 p.m.

Harlyn Wetzel, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said a tornado was reported 25 miles west of Fort Yates moving northeast. He said several funnel clouds were spotted in Morton County along the Cannon Ball River.

Flash flood warnings in McKenzie, Mountrail and Ward Counties expired at 8 p.m.

Tornado warnings were also issued for Grant and Hettinger Counties.

No damage had been reported as of 8:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service said it had reports of heavy rain in the north central part of the state, and hail in the Bowman area. Forecasters also had reports of 60 mph winds in Renville County.

The state was in the grip of a thunderstorm complex, said Jon Chamberlain, a forecaster at the National Weather Service office in Bismarck.

"It becomes a self-sustaining system, and it can cover many miles across many states, if the conditions are right," he said.
