Rash of thefts, burglaries investigated

Bismarck police and the Burleigh County Sheriff's Department are investigating a string of thefts and burglaries in southwest Bismarck and the surrounding area.

The thefts occurred from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning.

Bismarck Police Sgt. Dwight Offerman said five such reports were filed over the weekend:

n Between 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, someone stole a bicycle from a garage on the 500 block of Munich Drive. The bicycle had been hanging from the ceiling of the garage, Offerman said.

n Someone forced open a side garage door on a home on the 1700 block of Bonn Boulevard onFriday night or Saturday morning. Nothing was stolen, though property inside the garage had been rummaged through,Offerman said. He said the entry into the garage caused $150 in damage.

n Another person on the 1700 block of Bonn Boulevard reported an unlocked vehicle had been entered Friday night or Saturday morning, but nothing was taken.

n Between 11:40 p.m. Friday and 8:56 a.m. Saturday, someone entered three cars in a garage on the 500 block of Stuttgart Drive. Offerman said the owners reported gas cards, a Starbucks card and $4 in cash stolen, for a total of $64 in loss.

n Someone stole $275 in cash and an iPod, valued at $100, from a vehicle on the 1700 block of South Reno Drive on Friday night or Saturday morning.

Burleigh County Sheriff's Lt. Nick Sevart said five burglaries also were reported in the county, outside Bismarck city limits but near where the Bismarck incidents were reported.

n Someone stole an iPod from a vehicle parked on the 7800 block of Sibley Drive after midnight on Saturday. Sevart said a shed also was open, but nothing was taken out of it.

n Someone entered a vehicle but did not steal anything on the 2100 block of Sherman Drive between midnight and 10 a.m. Sunday.

n A man on the 2000 block of Sherman Drive reported that he went to sleep at 10 p.m. Saturday. When he woke up at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, a money clip containing cash and a credit card had been taken from his kitchen counter, Sevart said. He said the house was unlocked.

n Awoman on the 2000 block of Sherman Drive reported she went to sleep at 9 p.m. Saturday. When she woke up at 7 a.m. Sunday, she discovered money had been stolen from her purse, Sevart said. He said she was unsure whether the house was locked.

n Between 1:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday, someone stole a laptop from the living room of a home on the 2100 block of Sherman Drive. Sevart said the front door was unlocked.
