TOM STROMME/TribuneA pistol that once belonged to Buffalo Bill Cody will be a featured attraction in the Dakota Guns collection gallery at the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame in Medora beginning today. The 1870's era pistol was presented to Buffalo Bill by firearms manufacturer Samuel Colt and has the serial number 1. And as an added feature the well worn 36 caliber Colt pistol has the initials of its owner W. Cody on the barrel. "Everything we do has a North Dakota connection," said North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame executive director Darrell Dorgan "and Cody was a friend of Sitting Bull and Sitting Bull toured with the Wild West Show for several years." Dorgan said the pistol will be in the NDCHF through the summer season. He said the pistol is on loan from the National Firearms Museum in Virginia.
