Mandan captured first place at the 2007 State Class A Speech Tournament held at Fargo South High School on Saturday.

The Mandan team will ring the school's bell at 6 p.m. today.

Valley City finished second, Bismarck St. Mary's third, Fargo South fourth, West Fargo fifth and Fargo Shanley sixth.

El. J, Arntson, of Bismarck St. Mary's, was named coach of the year.

Two hundred forty students from 15 high schools participated in the tournament.
