A band of motorcyclists will zip from bar to bar Saturday with Hot Wheels, Barbie and Elmo in mind.
The Mandan chapter of Dakota Riders M.C. and the Silver Dollar Bar in Mandan are collaborating to raise money for the local Toys for Tots branch.
In the midst of Buggies-n-Blues bustle, the Silver Dollar will accept donations of money or new toys for the organization, which delivers holiday presents to children whose families may not be able to provide them.
Registration for a bike run opens at 11 a.m. at the bar. The $15 entry fee covers the group bar crawl, a bandanna, dinner, live music and eligibility for prizes.
"If they come on the run, they're going to have a good time and they're going to put a smile on a kid's face at the same time," said Michelle Tait, organizer for Bismarck-Mandan Toys for Tots.
Drivers of "anything with wheels" are welcome, Tait said.
The pack will leave the Silver Dollar at 1 p.m. for a road trip to area bars. The Mandan Police Department will escort the group.
Stops include the Sterling Bar in Sterling, the Tumbleweed Bar & Steak House in Lincoln, the Main Bar & Package Store in Bismarck and Colonial Lounge & Liquor in Mandan.
Participants will draw a playing card at each stop, amounting to a full hand by the end of the event. Holders of the best and worst poker hands will win prizes at the Silver Dollar, said Kenny Yeager, secretary for the Dakota Riders M.C. Mandan chapter.
Dinner and a street dance will follow at the Silver Dollar.
From the $15 per participant, $5 will go in the prize pot, Yeager said. The other $10 will buy toys for the charity.
The Silver Dollar will provide bandannas, food and live music without deduction from event ticket sales.
Tait said she hopes the lack of expenses to pay will roughly double the amount of money for toys from a previousbike run.
The other run, which was organized by a few independent motorcyclists at Colonial Lounge & Liquor last year, gave the organization a bit more than $1,000 for toys after paying event costs.
"It stays local," Yeager said. "Chances are it goes to someone you and Iboth know."
