The Bismarck Public Library and the Mandan High School debate team is sponsoring a mock debate for upper elementary and middle school students 4 p.m. Nov. 3.
The event will be held in the Bismarck Public Library's Story Room. Its purpose is to engage children in the election process and to introduce them to some of the national issues that are in the headlines today.
The Mandan High School debate team will represent both Democratic and Republican stances on the issues of the economy and energy. The young audience will then have the opportunity to break out into small groups and create follow up questions for the debaters.
The event is targeted for students grades 5-8, but is open to anyone who wants to attend.
Space is limited, and participants need to register by calling the Bismarck Public Library at 355-1489.
