Medora - The 21st annual Dakota Cowboy Poetry Gathering will be held May 26-27 in Medora, with evening events at 7:30 each night at the Medora Community Center. Emmons County - Anyone interested in filling a vacancy on the Emmons County Commission that occurred when Ray Wikenheiser died April 27 has until June 4 to submit their name to the Emmons County auditor. A new commissioner will be named by the two county commissioners and a South Central District judge. Applications are available at the auditor's office. Linton - An open house in honor of National Hospital Week will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the hospital. The event will include tours, learning opportunities, refreshments and a bake sale.

Golden Valley - Any Golden Valley County residents who want noxious weed chemicals like Tordon, Curtail, Milestone, Overdrive and Plateau should contact Brad Ross at 872-4736 by May 15. The chemicals will be distributed from 7 to 9 a.m. May 21 and May 25 at the shed west of the Golden Valley County shop in Beach.

New Leipzig - Rabies shots for dogs and cats will be given from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the old city hall in New Leipzig. Pet tags also will be distributed, and in-town pets are required to have a license and current shot record.
