The USDA Forest Service-Medora Ranger District will host two open houses, one from 5 to 8 p.m. June 17 in the Medora Conference Room at the Days Inn-Grand Dakota Lodge in Dickinson.
The second will be from 5 to 8 p.m. June 18 at the Comfort Suites, Meeting Room B, in Bismarck.
The district is completing an environmental analysis covering 46 livestock grazing allotments located in northern Billings County. Information from the environmental analysis will be used in the revision of allotment management plans, which date from the late 1960s.
An AMP guides the management of an individual allotment in achieving the goals and objectives of the Dakota Prairies Land and Resource Management Plan.
The purpose of the open houses is to inform the public about the analysis and to gather public comments on the AMP revision process.
A team of Forest Service specialists from Dakota Prairie Grasslands, with expertise in areas such as range management, wildlife biology and botany, will be available to provide information and answer questions about the proposal.
