A 21-year-old Hazen man - who reportedly had been hit in the head with a hammer, run over by a pickup and dragged about 30 feet early Saturday morning during an altercation on East Wachter Avenue - made it out of surgery OK and was in stable condition Saturday evening, said Bismarck Police Lt. Mike Arnold Sunday.
Arnold said the victim had a fractured jaw. Arnold didn't have any more information, other than he had been given the impression the victim's condition wasn't life-threatening.
Bismarck police have arrested two men suspected of being involved.
Travis J. Ryberg, 18, of Bismarck, and Gabriel Joseph Jaffe-Norris, 26, whose current address was not known, were found about 15 hours after the incident and arrested in a relative's house on south 12th Street. Two other people were brought in for questioning, Arnold said.
Bismarck Police Lt. Dan Donlin said Saturday the victim and the two suspects had been at the same party, in the 300 block of East Wachter Avenue, prior to the altercation. Witnesses called police shortly after 2 a.m. and said Ryberg used a hammer to strike the victim in the head multiple times before running him over with his pickup.
Ryberg's warrant was for attempted murder, aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving under suspension. Jaffe-Norris was wanted for terrorizing.
The men are being held at the Burleigh County Detention Center and are expected to be arraigned on charges today.
