A fire west of Mandan burned through about 250 acres Sunday afternoon, an officials said.
"It's extremely dry and the high winds (contributed),"said Mandan Rural Fire Chief Lynn Gustin, adding that there was a lot of dry grassland to fuel the fire.
The fire, reported at around 10 a.m., may have started in a ditch off of Interstate-94, near the Rolling Hills truck stop west of town. Gustin said the fire was contained by about 11:30, although crews continued to work on hot spots into the early afternoon.
All 10 of Mandan Rural Fire Department's trucks and tankers tended to the fire, as well as two units from Mandan Fire Department and four from Bismarck Rural Fire Department, Gustin said. No one was hurt and no property was damaged.
