The public is invited to learn about Measure 1 and Measure 2 at a forum from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bismarck State College's National Energy Center of Excellence Basin Electric Auditorium.
Measure 1 is a proposed constitutional amendment requiring a vote of the people to approve a protected permanent oil trust fund. Measure 2 will lower the state corporate income tax rates by 15 percent and the adjusted state income tax rates by 50 percent.
Measure 1 will be discussed from 7 to 7:50 p.m. Speaking in favor of the measure will be Rep. Dave Weiler, R-Bismarck. Speaking against the measure will be Stuart Savelkoul, campaign manager for Partners to Protect North Dakota's Future.
Measure 2 will be discussed from 8 to 8:50 p.m. Speaking in favor of the measure will be Duane Sand, the former North Dakota and South Dakota director for Americans for Prosperity and current congressional candidate. Speaking against the measure will be Greg Burns of the North Dakota Education Association.
The educational event is being sponsored by The Bismarck Tribune, Bismarck State College Board of Governors and Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce.
Seating is limited to the first 150 people. Audience members will be able to submit questions for consideration for those speaking in favor or against both measures.
