A former Mandan family is suing the school district and a bus driver, alleging discrimination.
The family, which is black, says the driver and children on his bus repeatedly directed racial slurs at the family's four children.
The Ella and Gary Bowen-Davis family, which now lives in Bismarck, is seeking at least $2 million.
Ella Bowen-Davis filed a similar complaint with the state Labor Department's Human Rights Division last year that was dismissed in April. She also faces an August trial on a felony terrorizing charge, for allegedly making remarks about a "blood bath" at a Mandan school last fall. She denies that.
Mandan Superintendent Wilfred Volesky says the Human Rights Division ruling shows that the school district acted appropriately.
