A 13-year-old boy has been cited with aggravated assault for allegedly squeezing another boy's neck.

Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler said the alleged victim, also a 13-year-old boy, said the suspect grabbed him by the back of his neck.

When the victim swung at the suspect, the suspect allegedly pushed the victim down by his throat and squeezed his throat.

Under North Dakota law, attempting to strangle someone, no matter how far the attempt goes, is considered felony aggravated assault.

The suspect was taken to the Youth Correctional Center, Ziegler said.
