History conference next month

The theme for the 20th annual Governor's Conference on North Dakota History will highlight the impact of the Homestead Act on North Dakota and the region.

Lincoln Legacy: The Homestead Act, featuring a variety of programs and demonstrations, will take place Nov. 7-8 at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck.

The actual Homestead Act document with President Lincoln's signature also will be on display during the conference. It is on loan from the National Archives and Records Administration through Nov. 10.
