A 17-year-old Bismarck boy has received six juvenile citations after allegedly chasing another vehicle, striking a vehicle and resisting officers trying to arrest him.
Burleigh County Sheriff's Lt. Nick Sevart said deputies were called to the area of 12th Street and Tacoma Avenue at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday for a report of someone in a red Dodge Ram chasing another vehicle, driving in a ditch and hitting a mailbox.
Deputies found the pickup in an apartment parking lot in the area, Sevart said. He said the driver admitted entering the ditch and striking the mailbox.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy, denied drinking, but deputies could smell alcohol on his breath, Sevart said. He said they performed sobriety tests on the boy, but he would not take a breathalyzer.
Deputies arrested the boy, and as they tried to put him in patrol car, he pulled away and kicked at deputies, Sevart said. He said the boy eventually was taken to a hospital for a blood test for alcohol.
The boy received juvenile citations for driving under the influence, minor in consumption, resisting arrest, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to give immediate notice of a reportable accident. He was placed at the Youth Correctional Center, Sevart said.
