BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A man wanted on felony theft charges is in custody after a standoff here.
Sgt. Mark Buschena said police served an arrest warrant to a 28-year-old Bismarck man shortly before 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
"Initially he was cooperative but at some point during the investigation he ran back into the house and said he had a gun and would harm himself, "Buschena said. "At that point, officers backed off."
Police called in the West Dakota Swat Team to help with negotiations. The man surrendered at about 11:30 a.m., Buschena said.
"It ended peacefully without incident," he said.
Buschena said other charges are pending against the man.
