12-year-old boy cited for driving without license
Bismarck police say they caught a 12-year-old boy driving around town with two 12-year-old passengers after 1 a.m. Monday.
Lt. Dan Donlin, of the Bismarck Police Department, said an officer spotted a four-door Pontiac traveling east through a parking lot on the north side of Jeannette Myhre Elementary School at 1:42 a.m. Monday.
When the driver of the car saw the squad car, he slammed on his breaks and did a quick U-turn, Donlin said.
The officer pulled the vehicle over and learned that the driver and his two female passengers were 12 years old, Donlin said. He said the car belonged to the boy's mother, and the boy indicated he had taken the keys from her purse.
The boy, from Mandan, was cited for driving without a license, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and curfew violation, Donlin said.
He said the two Bismarck girls were cited for curfew violation. The youngsters were released to the custody of their parents, Donlin said.
