NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) - A van struck the rear of a semi waiting to turn and went into a ditch, killing the driver of the van, authorities say.

James Bruce Hall, 49, of New Town, died of his injuries after he was thrown from the van in the Saturday night crash, the Highway Patrol said. It happened on state Highway 23, about four miles east of New Town, the patrol said.

Road conditions were dry and the weather was clear at the time of the crash about 11 p.m. Saturday, the patrol said.

The semi driver, Tyler Doll, 22, of Dickinson, was not injured, the patrol said.
