A Bismarck woman has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing a man in the neck with a knife.
Marvine Dupris, 41, was charged Monday with the Class Cfelony.
South Central District Judge Bruce Haskell set bond for Dupris at $5,000 cash. Burleigh County Assistant State's Attorney Jeff Ubben requested that amount due to the serious nature of the allegations.
Sgt. Dwight Offerman said police were called to the 200 block of North 20th Street at 2:25 a.m. Saturday. Officers found a man with a puncture wound to his neck at a motel, Offerman said.
He said Dupris and the man, 39-year-old Raymond Young, told police they had just moved into the motel and the incident occurred somewhere else. However, evidence at the scene suggested the alleged stabbing occurred in the motel room, Offerman said.
Dupris told officers she acted in self defense. She had a bruise on her chin, Offerman said.
Dupris and Young both were intoxicated, Offerman said. He said Young was arrested on a warrant after being released from the hospital Monday morning.
