They could have gone with "Winestein."
Or "Vinestein," for that matter.
But, all things being relative, it was the general theory that "Einstein on Wine" pretty much summed things up the best.
Gateway to Science, the hands-on science center that normally caters to students, will have an adults-only fundraiser this weekend. "Einstein on Wine" may be the best marriage of science and grape juice since Tide discovered a way to remove beaujolais from blouses.
"It's not a wine-tasting, it's a grab-a-glass-of-wine-and-have-a-fun-time event," said Beth Demke, Gateway to Science director. "There is an entirely different dynamic in this gallery when you have all adults here. It's amazing to see adults getting into our exhibits."
The first "Einstein on Wine" fundraiser, held last year, featured demonstrations on wine-making and wine chemistry. The event raised about $3,000, used to help move the center to its new location in the High Prairie Arts &Science Complex.
This year's event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, will include demonstrations on cooking with wine and how to determine the acidity of the wine participants will be drinking.
"Einstein on Wine" is for those age 21 and older, and will be held at the High Prairie complex, 1810 Schafer St. Tickets are $20, and they should be purchased in advance at Gateway to Science.
The menu at the fundraiser will feature a variety of wines, coffee, punch and sweet and savory finger foods. Wine baskets and other items will be auctioned, and exhibits at the center will be available for adoption.
Actors from Dakota Stage Ltd. will perform, and piano music will be played.
Demke said tours of the entire High Prairie complex will be given.
"The goal of the whole event is to get people to see what we do," Demke said. "Not just us, but everyone in the building. It shows art and science do go hand-in-hand."
