A day of family fun will be featured Saturday at the grand opening of new displays that complete the Corridor of Time exhibit at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., paleontologists will be available to identify fossils for visitors and show specimens from millions of years ago.
State Historical Society staff also will be on hand with a variety of games and crafts for children. At 1 p.m., a ribbon cutting will be held to officially open the new sections of the Corridor of Time. At 2 p.m., state paleontologist John Hoganson of the North Dakota Geological Survey will present "Prehistoric Life of North Dakota" in the Russell Reid Auditorium.
The Corridor of Time shows visitors what life was like in the region that includes what is now North Dakota millions of years ago.
