Hettinger - Community surveys mailed out to 1,000 residences and businesses in Hettinger should be returned to the Hettinger City Hall by Wednesday. The information from the surveys will be discussed at a community workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Hettinger National Guard Armory. The workshop will begin with a free meal. The community strategic process is funded with grants and facilitated by the Roosevelt-Custer Regional Council for Development.

Medora - The election for a Billings County representative to the North Dakota Wheat Commission will be held at 12:30 p.m. today at the Medora Community Center. All county residents actively engaged in wheat production are eligible to vote. For information, call the Wheat Commission at 328-5111.

Bowman - Beef Day 2008 will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the 4 Seasons Pavilion in Bowman. Dunn County - Dunn County officially turns 100 Friday, and events include a beef and pork supper at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Dodge Community Hall. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Dean Meyer will be emcee and guest speaker will be Jerome Tweten, historian and author. Tickets are available at local businesses. Also, the Halliday Lions will host their second annual coyote hunt with registration at 6 a.m. Saturday at the Rooterz in Halliday. Linton - Linton will hold its annual Cabin Fever Day starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the senior citizens hall in Linton. The event will include a knoephle, sauerkraut and sausage lunch and polka music until 1 p.m., followed by bingo. The event is open to the public and sponsored by the Linton Chamber of Commerce.

Elgin - A meeting of the Flasher, Carson and Elgin-New Leipzig school boards will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Elgin school. Topic of discussion will be how to resolve the issue involving busing open enrolled students from Carson into the Flasher district and the possibility of ending a football cooperative over the situation. The meeting is open to the public.
