Vandals did more than $7,300 damage to cars and homes in Bismarck over the weekend, the Bismarck Police Department said.
Lt. Dan Donlin said at least three homes and 22 vehicles were vandalized between Friday and early Monday morning.
The majority of the damage was done to vehicles parked in southwest Bismarck near Memorial Bridge on Sunday night to Monday morning, Donlin said.
He said at least 15 vehicles in that area had windows broken out, apparently shot by BB or pellet guns. Two houses in that area also had windows shot out, he said.
"That obviously gets very dangerous when someone is shooting into a house,"Donlin said.
Police have received some leads on the vandalism sprees, Donlin said.
Sunday before 10 p.m., someone walking a dog on the 1700 block of South Reno reported hearing a popping sound, Donlin said. A car on that block had a rear window shot out.
The witness said a male pointed a gun out the window of an older, dark-colored, four-door car, Donlin said. The person thought the car might have been a Plymouth, Donlin said.
Shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, someone reported that a rear window was shot out of a vehicle on the 1200 block of Pocatello Drive, Donlin said.
The witness said the shooter was in an older vehicle that might have been an Oldsmobile, with a different-colored driver's side front-quarter panel.
The two reports could be of the same car, Donlin said.
A few other incidents were scattered through Bismarck, he said.
Three vehicles in the Century Park Trailer Court had windows shot out Sunday night or Monday morning.
The front driver's side window of a car on the 3000 block of North 19th Street was shattered Sunday night or Monday morning, and so was the driver's side exterior mirror of a car on the 200 block of west Avenue A.
Friday night or early Saturday morning, a car parked at the Comfort Inn on Interstate Avenue had a rear window broken out and molding torn off.
Early Friday morning, a mobile home on the 600 block of South Ninth Street had a window broken.
Donlin said anyone with information about the vandalism should call the Bismarck Police Department at 224-TIPS.
