BOWMAN

Bowman County - Any individual or group that wants to participate in the Walk North Dakota health and fitness program can contact the Bowman County extension office at 523-5271. The program that encourages people to walk up to 10,000 steps each day runs from January through March, and registration is under way.

Ellendale - The January Artist's Showcase at the Dickey County Courthouse in Ellendale will feature art works created by Ellendale school students. The public is invited to view the exhibit.

Halliday - Halliday Public School will again offer its adult welding training program that will run from Jan. 8 through Feb. 26. The program is open to anyone older than 18 who is not enrolled in high school. The program is intended to help fill a critical regional shortage of welders. New England - A fundraiser dinner for the New England Community Store will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the New England High School gym. The event will include dinner, entertainment and a card party. Adult tickets are $20 and cost $10 for students.

Napoleon - The 25th annual Napoleon Business Association supper and fun night will be held starting with a beef cubes and ham supper at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Napoleon American Legion Hall. There also will be bingo and door prizes. Cost for adults is $8.

Ashley - A public hearing will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at the McIntosh County Courthouse in Ashley on an application by Tatanka Wind Power to build a 12-mile, 230,000-volt transmission line through McIntosh and Dickey counties. The hearing will be conducted by the Public Service Commission, which regulates such applications.

Watford City - The North Dakota Extension Service will hold a cropping decisions workshop at 9 a.m. Jan. 10 at the McKenzie County Courthouse meeting room in Watford City. This year's crop decisions will be made based on high input costs and substantially higher prices for some commodities that have typically been minor crops in the area. Hebron - The Hebron City Council has declared a 90-day extension until March 1 before it begins enforcing a junk vehicle ordinance. Property owners who want to store vehicles on their property must have them operable, licensed and insured. Anyone who wants to review the ordinance can stop in at the Hebron City Hall.

New Town - The New Town City Council will make a final decision on the town's Main Street improvement project at its Jan. 17 council meeting. Public comments are still welcome and the plan can be reviewed at city hall.

Gladstone - The Southwest District Health Unit and West Dakota Veterinary Clinic, in coopration with the city of Gladstone, will hold an anti-rabies clinic for dogs and cats from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 13 at Gladstone City Hall. Cost is minimal and animals can be vaccinated in the owner's vehicle, if desired.

Bowdon - People in the Bowdon area are invited to a Horizons kickoff supper at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Bowdon Community Center to hear about the Northwest Area Foundation's program to help bring success to small communities. The supper is free.
