DICKINSON (AP) - Pet adoption groups in Dickinson are upset that 22 animals at the city pound were put to death last week.
Sharon Dorval is the vice president of the Pet Project, a group that cares for abandoned animals. She says her group was in shock after finding out the animals were euthanized. The pet adoption groups say they were not notified before it happened.
Dickinson police say the pound was overcrowded and conditions were not good for the animals. Acting Chief Stuart Stenberg says the pet adoption groups knew the city's ordinance allows the animals to be euthanized after 10 days if they're not claimed.
