Vandals caused more than $5,000 in damage across Bismarck on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Bismarck Police Sgt. Dwight Offerman said 10 vandalism reports were made on Thursday, with nine of the reports occurring between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The other report could have happened anytime from Nov. 10 to Thursday afternoon.

"It may have been linked to this spree, but it could have been days ago," Offerman said.

All of the reports were of broken windows. Many appear to have been shot with BBs, though some were smashed to the point that officers could not be certain what caused the breaks, Offerman said.

One incident, on the 1100 block of University Drive, does not appear to have been caused by a BB, because the window frame was damaged and paint was scratched in addition to the broken car window, he said.

Most of the broken windows were driver's-side door windows on vehicles parked on streets, Offerman said. However, one report, on the 500 block of North 20th Street, was of a living room window, valued at $1,000, being broken.

The reports were not restricted to any section of town but appeared to be scattered in all directions.

Offerman said no one reported witnessing the vandalism, and there are no suspects.

A rash of vehicle vandalisms was reported in the days following Thanksgiving. In those incidents, 49 reports were made to the police department, with damages nearing $50,000.

All of the vandalism cases remain under investigation.
