Medora - The annual Dakota Cowboy Poetry Gathering will be held May 23-24 in Medora at the community center. Free sessions will open at 1 p.m. each day and admission will be charged for evening shows at 7:30. A Sunday morning gospel session will start at 9.

Bowman - The Pioneer Trails Regional Museum will host Tracy Potter, who will give a presentation on La Verendry and Sons, 18th century explorers, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the museum. Coffee and sweets will be served afterward. The event is sponsored by the North Dakota Humanities Council.

Halliday - The Halliday Student Council is sponsoring a food drive through Friday and everyone is asked to bring donated items to the school for delivery to the Dunn County Food Pantry.

Linton - Linton Hospital will hold a customer appreciation day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 15 at the Linton Hospital ambulance garage. Free blood pressure and glucose screenings will be offered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and free hot dogs, potato salad and chips will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Beach - The public is invited to a town hall health meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the ambulance building in Beach to meet St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center chief executive officer Reed Reyman. Hospital staff will take questions and seek feedback on its health care services.

Carson - A class for the public to learn to spot and track tornados and other severe weather will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grant County Courthouse in Carson. The SKYWARN class is co-sponsored by the National Weather Service and the Grant County emergency manager.

Mott - The Mott City Council will hear a request for property tax relief from Mott Equity Exchange at 7 p.m. May 26 at the Mott City Hall. The tax relief is requested for a project the Equity will use in the operation of an agronomy center on Highway 8.

Steele - A public cardio pulmonary resuscitation class will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kidder County ambulance hall in Steele. Napoleon - The annual meeting of the Wishek Hospital Clinic Association will be held at 8 p.m. May 12 at the Wishek Civic Center. The meeting will include financial and operational reports and an election of four directors. Everyone is welcome.

Ashley - A "Womanless Beauty Pageant" and soup and sandwich supper will be held starting at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ashley American Legion Hall. Several local favorites are already entered in the pageant. The event is sponsored by the Lutheran Youth Organization and proceeds will go toward the group's upcoming trip to New Orleans.

Watford City - The Watford City High School music department will hold its annual spring concert at 7:30 tonight at the Watford City High School. Also, the school will hold its annual awards night at 7:30 p.m. May 14 at the media center. The public is invited to both and the National Honor Society will host a reception following the awards night presentations.

Garrison - Students at Bob Callies Elementary School will present their annual spring concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the high school gym in Garrison. Also, the annual Pop Concert, which includes a pie and ice cream social, will be held at 7 p.m. May 14, also at the school gym. Washburn - The Washburn High School athletic banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the school gym. Everyone is invited.

Hazen - Sakakawea South Shore Community Theater will hold auditions for this summer's production of "The Music Man" from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the Hazen High School theater. Krenz and the Rhythm Angels have reached the top of the folk/roots music charts and have an upcoming performance on Garrison Keilor's Prairie Home Companion.

Sheridan - Two positions on the McClusky School Board will be filled in the upcoming election, with the filing deadline to be on the ballot at 4 p.m. Thursday. A board member for the rural area and one for the city of McClusky will be elected for three-year terms.

Fort Yates - A two-day event for veterans will be held Wednesday and Thursday at Sitting Bull College in Fort Yates. The event will include a welcome home for returning veterans and offer medical exams and evaluations for newly discharged servicemen and women. A women's health and wellness program will be offered to female veterans on Wednesday. For information, call 854-8527. The Fargo Veterans Medical Center is a sponsor of the event.
