Awoman accused of making threats at her children's school has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.
Ella Bowen-Davis, 41, entered an Alford plea to the Class Bmisdemeanor through a written plea agreement on Oct. 30. She waived her right to appear in court on the charge.
An Alford plea means a defendant does not admit to committing an offense, but acknowledges that there would be sufficient evidence for a jury to convict him or her.
In the plea agreement, Bowen-Davis admitted the evidence suggested that she acted "with reckless disregard of the fact that another person was harassed, annoyed or alarmed by my behavior" and that she "engaged in tumultuous or threatening behavior towards the principal and office secretaries at the Fort Lincoln Elementary School."
Bowen-Davis was charged Sept. 14, 2007, with Class C felony terrorizing for making remarks about a "blood bath"at a Mandan school. Police said Bowen-Davis went to Fort Lincoln Elementary School on Sept. 12, 2007, to talk with a principal about a bus driver, who also is her neighbor, and was unhappy with the outcome of the discussion.
According to the original complaint filed against Bowen-Davis, she told the principal of the school that relatives of hers from Tennessee would be coming to watch her children at school. That complaint alleges that she said, "And if it takes a blood bath, it's going to be a blood bath."
Bowen-Davis, who now lives in Bismarck, had been scheduled to stand trial on the charge Tuesday.
On Oct. 28, Morton County State's Attorney Allen Koppy amended the charge against Bowen-Davis to Class B misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Bowen-Davis and public defender Travis Finck on Oct. 30 signed a written plea agreement calling for Bowen-Davis to be sentenced to 10 days in jail, with all of the time suspended, and one year of probation, and ordered to pay $275 in court fees.
Koppy signed the agreement on Oct. 31, and South Central District Judge Bruce Romanick signed off on it on Monday.
