Two locations in north Bismarck will be considered for a new elementary school site.

The Bismarck School Board will meet Monday and discuss the sites. The meeting is at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Room of the City/County Building, 221 N. Fifth St.

Asite could be selected as early as June 23. The new school could serve about 550 students and ease overcrowding caused by growth and all-day, every-day kindergarten.

The school district owns two sites in the north it is considering for the school: one is east of the KOA campgrounds on the east side of Centennial Road; the other is east of Washington Street across from the new north campus of Good Shepherd Church.

A school could be open by fall 2010 that would serve about 550 students. It would cost at least $10 million to build. The district is considering a couple of options for financing, including a loan from the school construction loan fund, which gives school district low-interest loans for construction projects.

The project could be bid in January or February.
