Bismarck police are working to identify a man found dead under Liberty Memorial Bridge Saturday afternoon.
Bismarck Police Sgt. Scott Meyers said a passer-by taking pictures of the bridge found the body and reported it to police at 1:38 p.m. Saturday.
The man was carrying no identifying information, but he had a small amount of money, Meyers said.
He appears to have fallen or jumped from the bridge, but an autopsy will be conducted Monday to determine the cause of death, Meyers said. He said police do not suspect foul play.
The man is described as being between 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 5 feet, 10 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He appears to be between 40 and 50 years old, and is white with red hair and a red handlebar mustache
He was found wearing black jeans, black tennis shoes and a light blue baseball-style jacket that had "Wheelers" and Bismarck,N.D., printed on it.
Meyers said police are uncertain what Wheelers is, though they have no record of a business named Wheelers in Bismarck. They believe it may be a club, though they are seeking more information, he said.
He said police have been contacting local shelters to determine if the man could have been a resident at any time. Meyers said authorities at the Ruth Meiers Hospitality House thought the man could have stayed there in the past, but they could not identify him.
Anyone with information should call the Bismarck Police Department at 223-1212 or Bismarck Area Crime Stoppers at 224-TIPS (224-8477).
