Bismarck police are asking people not to park on the Band Night Parade route today.
The parade starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Capitol grounds, goes south on Sixth Street to Avenue C, west on Avenue C to Fifth Street, then south on Fifth Street to the Civic Center.
Bands from North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Canada will take part in the parade.
Temporary no-parking signs were put up on Thursday along the parade route, and the temporary no-parking enforcement will start at 5 p.m. today and continue until the parade is over.
"Every year, we end up towing vehicles parked illegally along the parade route, and we ticket many more," said Bismarck Police Sgt. Allen Nass, with the traffic division. "Violators parked in the no parking zones along the parade route can expect a $10 ticket, and if their vehicle is towed, a minimum bill of $100."
