A convicted sex offender has been charged for going on the property of a Bismarck school.
Lance Krouse, 24, was charged Thursday with unlawful sexual offender presence near schools, a Class Amisdemeanor. He will receive a summons to appear in court at a later date.
According to a Bismarck Police Department report, North Dakota Parole and Probation informed police Krouse had been on the grounds of Bismarck High School on Feb. 1.
Krouse has a monitoring device, which showed he was on the grounds of the school, the report said.
Krouse told his probation officer he was with his girlfriend, who was picking up her sister from school.
Under a state law passed during the 2007 legislative session, sex offenders and offenders against children who are required by law to register with law enforcement can be charged with a Class A misdemeanor if they are on the grounds of a school without prior permission or without being allowed there by the school.
