Load restrictions will go into effect in southwest North Dakota at 7 a.m. CST Thursday. This includes all highways south of I-94 from the Montana state line east to the Missouri River.

Load restrictions are in force when load limit signs are in place. Limits shown on the load restriction signs take precedence over published information.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation uses load restrictions to reduce damage to roadways caused by heavily weighted vehicles at a time of the year when highway surfaces are the most vulnerable.

Up-to-date load restriction information is available online at www.dot.nd.gov/roadreport/loadlimit /loadlimit.asp.

Load restriction information is also available by calling 511, any of the NDDOT district offices, or the North Dakota Highway Patrol Permit Section at 328-2621.
