It looks as though someone finally cried uncle. Gas prices in Bismarck-Mandan have climbed a bit over the past day or so.
After spending more than a month entangled in a gas war, some local stations raised the price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline to $1.44. Some other stations, though, raised their price to only $1.34.
During the gas war, local prices were mainly at $1.29, putting it at one of the lowest prices in the nation.
The jump to the mid-$1.40s puts the Bismarck-Mandan market on line with the national average of $1.45 a gallon.
When the gas war started in mid-November, one station owner said someone would eventually cry uncle and raise the price. Last week a few stations tried, raising prices to $1.45, but it was short-lived. Most stayed at $1.29 and those that raised prices, dropped them the next day.
A gas war continues in Grand Forks. According to gasbuddy.com, the price of a gallon of unleaded is mainly $1.29. Prices in Fargo are mainly in the mid-$1.30s.
