The 957th Multi-Role Bridge Company will return to the United States in less than two weeks.
The Bismarck-based unit of the North Dakota National Guard is currently in Kuwait, preparing to come home. It will fly into Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., on April 13, where the 170 soldiers will do paperwork and undergo medical checkups. They will return to North Dakota five to seven days later.
The 957th was mobilized to active duty in February 2003. It left Fort Leonard Wood for Kuwait on April 24, and moved into Iraq shortly thereafter.
The Guard also announced Thursday that the last group of soldiers from the 142nd Engineer Combat Battalion will return to North Dakota and Minnesota on Saturday. The group of 55 soldiers stayed in Kuwait after the majority of the unit left, to load equipment onto a ship.
One of the soldiers will return to Bismarck, two to Minot, eight to Minneapolis and 44 to Fargo.
