ELLENDALE - A Dickey County man who shot and killed his stepson and injured his wife has been ordered to serve 12 years in prison.
Judge Mikal Simonson sentenced Wade Radermacher, 35, of Monango, this week for the death of his stepson, Kylie Heinle-Ebele, 17, and injuries to his wife, Lisa, in 2004.
Radermacher was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with eight years suspended, for murder, and to five years in prison for reckless endangerment. The sentences are to be served at the same time.
Radermacher pleaded guilty to both charges in March.
His attorney, Thomas Dixon of Bismarck, said earlier that his client shot his stepson six times with a rifle and shot his wife once, accidentally, at their farm home near Monango on June 23, 2004.
Radermacher, a diabetic, was having marital problems and was suffering from low blood sugar that day, resulting in clouded judgment, Dixon said.
Radermacher began serving his sentence Tuesday at the state penitentiary in Bismarck.
