Oh, sweet symbiosis.

A burgeoning relationship between two Bismarck entities has produced a program beneficial to both. And you can watch it develop.

The most recent TV reality series can be found on channel 12, where the brainchild of Community Access Television and the North Dakota Council on the Arts is enjoying its infancy. A half-hour talk show on the local arts scene, called "arTView," airs Thursdays and Fridays.

The idea for the show was developed last spring, after about two years of casually trying to figure out how to make it happen, council spokesman Ben Nemenoff said. Each show features a different local arts group, with interviews conducted by Bismarck attorney and community-theater actor Mike Hinman.

Most of the first shows will showcase members of the Dakota West Arts Council, of which there are about 50.

"It was best to get DWAC involved because it's the local arts agency," Nemenoff said. "We want to send tapes of the show out to other community access stations around the state to encourage them to do a similar production."

The program aired for the first time last week.

It can be seen at 8:30 p.m. Thursdays and at 7 and 7:30 p.m. Fridays.

"It's a good way to expose the arts to the community," CATV director Mary Van Sickle said. "The North Dakota Council on the Arts and the Dakota West Arts Council are good partners to do that with. We're always looking for great programming, and they're looking for promotion. This was a way to work together to make that happen."

Cindy Haider, director of DWAC, said the shows provide viewers with behind-the-scenes looks at the community's studios, productions and artists.

"If you have ever thought of joining an organization but wanted to know if it was right for you, now you can just tune in and see if it is a fit for you or your children," Haider said.
