The second-smallest county seat town in North Dakota will turn 100, and it's holding an old-fashioned party to celebrate.
Manning, population 49, has a centennial this year at the same time Dunn County does, too.
Plans are to begin the festivities Aug. 1 with a wagon train setting up at the old historic town of Fayette, a small cluster of stone buildings in the rocky hills west of Manning.
The wagon train will ride over to the historic Hutmacher Farm and then return to Fayette for a public supper and campfire music starting at 6 p.m.
The wagon train will head out for Manning at 6 a.m. Aug. 2, where there'll be vendors in the park, a stamp cancellation and a 3 p.m. branding to raise money for the community building.
The beer garden opens in the park at 3 p.m. Aug. 2 and barbecue will be served there at 4:30 p.m., followed by a performance by the Dunn County Centennial Children's Choir and an evening dance by the Tibor Brothers. A midnight breakfast will be served.
A sunrise church service with the KGLE Cowboys will be held at 6 a.m. Aug. 3 at the park, followed by breakfast and the departure of the wagon train. A potluck lunch will start at the park at noon for an afternoon of raffle drawings, visiting and games.
Wearing of period 1908 style fashion is encouraged.
Primitive camping is available for $25 all three days. For information and to be a vendor, call 483-0178.
