Republican John Hoeven wants more than eight years as North Dakota's governor. Democrat Tim Mathern is his opponent. Both candidates are seeking your vote in November.
The two will square off in a debate from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Tom Baker Room, City/County Building, 221 N. Fifth St., Bismarck.
The debate is sponsored by The Bismarck Tribune, League of Women Voters, Community Access Television and the North Dakota Newspaper Association.
CATV will broadcast the debate live and rebroadcast it several times leading up to the election. Rebroadcast also will be provided to Fargo, Grand Forks, Jamestown and Minot. Those without cable can watch a live Web stream at www.freetv.org.
Panelists asking questions at the debate will include Gail H. Erickson, president of the League of Women Voters; Sara Kincaid, health-education reporter for The Bismarck Tribune; Jason Nordmark, NDNA president, Turtle Mountain Star, Rolla; and Mike Jacobs, publisher and editor of the Grand Forks Herald.
The audience will be limited to the first 100 people. Audience members also will be allowed to submit questions for consideration.
Hoeven and Mathern will be allowed a five-minute introduction and will answer and rebut questions (two minutes each) posed from the panelists. They also will be allowed a four-minute closing statement.
