A 13-year-old girl has been cited with terrorizing and placed at the Youth Correctional Center for allegedly writing a bomb threat on a restroom wall at a middle school.
The girl was arrested Thursday morning, Sgt. Dwight Offerman said.
The bomb threat was written on the wall in a handicap stall of a girls' restroom at Wachter Middle School. It was discovered at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. School resource officers were called to the school, which was not evacuated.
The threat indicated a bomb would go off in the school, though no other details were specified in the threat.
The school was searched several times, and nothing unusual was found.
Last week, a 13-year-old girl at Simle Middle School was cited with terrorizing for allegedly writing a threat on a restroom wall at that school.
In both cases, camera systems in the school resulted in the identification of suspects, Offerman said.
"They are totally invaluable," he said about the cameras.
Offerman said such incidents will continue to be taken seriously by police and school officials.
"These incidents are both considered very serious incidents, regardless of the actors' intents, and will always be treated as such in any future situations," Offerman said in a news release.
